Home » Benefits of Chocolate

Recent scientific research indicates that not only is chocolate not as “sinful” as we once thought, but it may actually be good for us. Chocolate contains high levels of antioxidants called flavonoids which may actually reduce the harmful effects of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. Chocolate may even lower blood pressure according to one recent small study from Germany, and some lab studies suggest that cocoa flavonoids may also reduce the growth of cancer cells.

Here is an interesting article published in UC Berkeley/School of Public Health’s Wellness Letter on some of the benefits of chocolate, as well as a chocolate health FAQ: http://www.berkeleywellness.com/html/wl/2004/wlFeatured0204.html
